Fates Rotation

Image
Fairest friend, may you lend your ear to me, Whilst I transmute your verse to archaic strain, In fourteen lines, a sonnet's majesty, Where intricate conceits hold imperial reign. My star of love, in constant gyre did spin, A cosmic whirl, by cruelest fate ordained. Alas, that we, by circumstance hemmed in, To other's thrall, our destinies enchained. For what is ours, that cannot be our own? A common wont, by worldly custom taught: One delves for gold, on fortune's throne enthroned, Another's plaint for meagre crust is fraught. Man seeks his hap, on Stygian vessels borne, Past's dim spectres, by our thoughts are shorn. ©Poet Affaq  #Sonnets #poetry #PoetryBlog

If The Coals Are Found

Image
When tempest’s do gather with a chilling breath, And mingle snow with sorrow's weeping rain, The robin, aye, and swallow, bound for death If winter's cruel dominion they sustain, Do quit their cradles, borne on morning's wing, A feathered host, and a caravan so fast  Soon, the aunts, their urgent labor bring To fill their coffers before the cold does cast. Its icy mantle. 'It’s a season fraught With careful toil for creatures, fowl, and man, Who ponders how to shun the pangs of naught, And scape the hunger in a grim winter's span. Young Aliyan now melts the frozen ground, And warms her spirit. If the coals are found. ©Poet Affaq  #ForeverSonnets #Poetry

An Unfading Joy

Image
My fortune led me to vales of sweet perfume, I gazed; each atom bathed in dews of joy. And feathered birdsong dispelled all gloom; Their dulcet anthems did sweet peace convey. Ah, could such pure felicity compare? Then bore my star to realms of revelry, Where unseen sights captivated my eye; Still transient proved this light, a phantasy. To gilded hoards, then, swiftly was I drawn; Some ease, some luxury, my soul embraced; And to the zenith of success, at the dawn, I rose, my worldly triumphs proudly traced. But look, can these fleeting glories ever vie With joy I found in mother's arms? O, never! ----Poet Affaq  #ForeverSonnets

Beyond The Stars

Image
When earthly rewards, like the rivers, overflow, And worldly wisdom does the mind engage, The parent's pride, a vibrant, eager show, To fill young minds on life's material stage. This earthly insight, shimmery, sharp and bright Does lift us high, to touch the distant star, Or plumb the ocean's dark and secret light, Not man can fault this quest, however far. Well yet, by its side, a nobler path does lie, The spiritual empire, often scorned, unseen, By which the soul to infinite heights may fly, And master stars, and empires of joy convene. Oh well, though doors of endless grace await, We bow to dust, and serve a whimsical state. ------ Poet Affaq #ForeverSonnets #MysticalPoetry

Mustard Blooms Plea

Image
The yellow mustard, clad in a gilded hue, From every clime, feathered singers fly, Do moan with joy, spring's bonnie birth renew, As gentle winds on stream-sides softly sigh. With ruddy fruits, the burdened branches bend, My heart beats briefly, new-born blossoms gleam, Through these fair scenes, naked beauties blend, I do yearn for you, as waking from a dream. O, will you come this day, ere life does flee? My soul ascends, now trembling on my lip, For what avail, shouldst you then come to see These flowery groves, when death my spirit strip? Your phantom faint, in gilded fields I mark, Oh, come with favor, and kindle my fading spark. ---- Poet Affaq #MustardBloom #Foreversonnets

Blessed Vision In The Night's Still Air

Image
In midnight's tranquil, a wondrous view did bloom, My mother's shade from realms of blessed delight, Within the cypress umbrage, dispelling gloom, Did call my name and eased her spirit's plight. "Have you now returned where olive branches sway, To view the fruits your toil did bring to bear? And where do grievous toils your strength waylay? Do you seek home when shadows fill the air?" "For you I fear below celestial watchful gaze; May God's own hand your earthly way defend. Do hawks still hunt beneath the starry maze? How can fair women such dire warnings fend?" My tears for you shall fade with earthly cost, Be that blessed vision forever be my boast. ©Poet Affaq  #FoeverSonnets

A joy upon joy your arrival brings

Image
Within the verdant pastures of my glance, Your loveliness did ever tenderly gleam. Beyond all earthly measures, it enhance, As the freshest bloom exhales its fragrant dream. What profits were the vast and watery way, Across the seven seas my lonely course to steer. If your dear form be distant, far away? Your presence dispels all doubt and fear. A joy upon joy your sweet arrival brings, A sudden shower of hope before me springs. And in that breath, a world of yearning sings, When our two hearts in close communion lie. What mortal wit conceive not, we shall spy? And like twin flowers, no sorrow shall draw nigh. ©Affaq
