Rise and claim your due Right

When throne and power do serve corrupt design, And the elitist thieves, with tyranny, reign, Wisdom and virtue weep, and justice pine, As freedom’s sacred flame does faintly wane. The people's voice, once strong, now whispers low, While politicians’ lies, with greed, do spread Their dark influence, where honor does forgo Its rightful place, and virtue seems but dead. O, fair people, rise and claim your due right, For in your heart, a spark of truth does glow. Though virtue be oppressed, it takes to flight, And justice, though delayed, shall reign and grow. Then shall the corrupt, with shame, depart, And the wisdom, virtue, reign within your heart. © Affaq  (My sonnets)
