Darling on the Necklace Tree
O darling of the pink necklace-tree, Whose trembling soul breaks forth in tuneful cries, You pourest to the wandering winds of sea The secret pulse that in your bosom lies. Praise to the Power who shaped us wing’d and free. Oh, upon the willow-bough I hail to stay, To sing for whose voice through waters leap, Commanding the sun to wake the flowers of May. “Speed on,” the bird sings: for the breeze” For in your path the northern waters play, All their ancient glories kiss your way to seas— And I feed on simple grain within the dale— But you, whose music moves the spheres above, Do keep me singing here in awe and love. ----Affaq N.Affaq #Sonnets #foreversonnets
