A wanderer's way
If borrowed dreams in fettered chains resound, Though suns of mercy burn within the breast, The iron harp shall yield a wailing sound, And inward music sinks, by night oppressed. If splendour’s flame be kindled not from thee, Its blaze shall blacken, turning song to dust; The soul shall wander, bound in misery, Where tyrant shadows mock the spirit’s trust. Can stolen phrases strike dumb the serpent’s hiss? Or heal the wound the human heart has borne? Awake, O Man! Your own true voice is bliss, Your breath the herald of a brighter morn. Oh, sing thou then, in the heart's holy key, The earth is shaped by your eternity. ----Affaq N.Affaq #Awanderersway #Foreversonnets #PoetAffaq #PoemhunterAffaq #SonnetsByAffaq
