Oath of Flame

Image
An Oath of Treaty stands, an Oath of Flame, Through both the trembling heart would dare to go; For every vein is forged in pangs of shame, Still seeks peace—so still it yearns to slow. The heart—so small, but bears an Ocean vast, Here Longing’s tides in storm labour rise; Life’s lamp burns brief, while toil and dream hold fast, And Time enthrones itself before our eyes. In midnight realms these brooding visions stream, A shoreless Sea wherein barren phantoms glide; Some are bound by Oaths that rule the dream, And some by Death’s chilly whisper terrified. When Time’s iron shadow steals our breath, We yield the dream, to shield the Oath from death. ----Affaq  #Foreversonnets #LyricalSonnets #SonnetPoetry  #PoetAffaq

The Wounded Breast

Image
From lover’s wounded breast the plague is born, As when the cherished fragrance meets us not, There be a river of lament, from eve to morn Runs wild, till reason’s lamp burns cold and fraught. Love’s early beam, is a beam in beginning,  Than unfolds to a thousand longings  Some ripens into fruit of blossoming, But most like clouds in hot sky dying,  And if avarice a brittle twig at first it seems— Grows soon like a thicket choked with seed; Upon harvesting to greedy one it heals,  The other remains in melancholy with lips sealed  Thus passion’s ship leaves the mystic sea, Or sinks in storms before the coast can be. ---Affaq  #TheWoundedBreast  #Foreversonnets  #PoetAffaq

The Himmed Ground

Image
In Silent Rain ,.....Lyrical sonnet Edited by Poet Affaq / Subscribe to my YouTube channel The graveyard now is held with iron strong, Its gate a guard of iron, marble marking all; Each name is carved, each life made long By stone that tells where fathers rise and fall. But oh, the olden ground I knew in my youth, Where tall chinars kept watch in solemn air— Narcissus' breaths crafted hamlet side smooth, Stars that crowned each moss-soft resting there. I saw Romanies stay in corners with their birds, The season harvesting, and by the fire at night Their airy fairy tales, half-forgotten words, Glowed warm as embers in the waning light. In autumn days, gold maple leaves did pour A rustling music around—gone, alas, no more. ----Affaq  #LyricalSonnets #PoetAffaq

Walkways of Yesterday

Image
How pleasing were those lost days of ancient past, The walkways, by windowpane he read The throne verse at dawn’s first glimmer cast; Ecstasy through waking fields was  spread. Eternity’s own music filled the happy air, His voice entwined with cuckoo’s early song; The scene grew lovelier, gentler, calm, and fair, As if the hours themselves would linger long. And in the vesper’s arrival, the angels near Bent low to send their blessings from above. That era now lies faint, faded and unclear— The cuckoo dust, the voice, the home of love. Still those echoes through the shadows glide, A whispered festival once lived inside. ------Affaq N.Affaq

Darling on the Necklace Tree

Image
O darling of the pink necklace-tree, Whose trembling soul breaks forth in tuneful cries, You pourest to the wandering winds of sea The secret pulse that in your bosom lies. Praise to the Power who shaped us wing’d and free. Oh, upon the willow-bough I hail to stay, To sing for whose voice through waters leap, Commanding the sun to wake the flowers of May. “Speed on,” the bird sings: for the breeze” For in your path the northern waters play, All their ancient glories kiss your way to seas— And I feed on simple grain within the dale— But you, whose music moves the spheres above, Do keep me singing here in awe and love. ----Affaq N.Affaq  #Sonnets #foreversonnets

Times Call

Image
Blessed were those who fled this mortal strife,  And saw not Man enslaved by rich’s paws  Whose skirts were spared from sin’s devouring knife,  Nor bowed to tyrants ruling over with selfish laws Industries rise over night thru wicked wafts  Binding the meek in chains of luxurious lies;  They preach of justice, feasts, and using grafts  Binding in satanic knots where spirit dies. But lo! the Sun ascends through clouded air,  Heaven commands: “Awake, O light, and rise!”  Still hymns of tender hearts go in mourning air  The flame that mocks the empire of disguise. Though vulgar Age proclaims humanity’s fall,  The Eternal voice yet sings — and conquers all. ----Affaq N Affaq  #Sonnets #LyricalPoetry #AffaqArtist

On Jamaican Bay

Image
On Jamaican Bay  The ire, like fire, in mortal hearts is bred, And like a hawk he swooped with wrath to claim; Her single slip of tongue stirred sudden dread, A tiny fault that rose to thunder’s flame. A creature small, yet loud as oceans roar, She cried, though tears like pearls adorned her face; For anger flares, then cools, as waters pour, And laughter soft may banish all disgrace. A flower famed for smiles she bloomed again, Disdaining bitterness that storms impart; She waited long till vesper graced the plain Of Jamaican bays, with calmness in her heart. She whispered forth her plea in timid air— None sorrowed then—all rejoiced to see her fair. ----- Affaq   #SonnetPoetry #LyricalPoetry
