Musings

Enchanting soul, your visage unveils so slow,
Like timid luna that falters from veiling cloud;
As youth in me awakes, you now bestow
A modest mercy, half-hidden, not too proud.
I wake at midnight—O angel dear, let me rest;
Through hasty hours I scan my drained day.
What heavy horror upon your mind is pressed,
To seal your lips and whisk your words away?
I stand ensnared by musings the world has sown,
While you speak sweet of spring’s arriving roam;
Your heart lives light, on trembling dewlight grown,
Still rain brings no such fullness to my home.
You chide love’s name, and fright its rising flame,
But from that fright, I craft love’s hallowed name.
